‘Enemy out of ammo after anti-Iran bans’

“The enemies have tried a lot of ways to bring the Islamic Republic to its knees, but they have failed in all of them,” Moayyed Hosseini Sadr said on Thursday.

“Economic sanctions are the enemy’s last ammunition; and the Iranian nation can foil this conspiracy with resistance, unity, and convergence,” he added.

He further said that the enemies seek to shatter the Iranian economy, noting that unity among the country’s executive, legislative, and judicial branches and the nation will disappoint the country’s adversaries.

At the beginning of 2012, the US and the European Union (EU) approved new sanctions against Iran’s oil and financial sectors. The embargoes aim to prevent other countries from purchasing Iranian oil or transacting with the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

The US sanctions took effect on June 28, while the US-engineered EU oil ban against Iran was enforced as of July 1.

Many prominent international lawyers, including Franklin Lamb and Francis Boyle, contend that Iran is entitled to file a lawsuit with the International Court of Justice against the US, France, the UK and their allies, on behalf of all Iranian citizens being harmed by illegal and political economic sanctions.
