Every other American obese by 2030?

(NaturalNews) According to the world’s leading medical journal, Great Britain’s Lancet, “by the year 2030, half of all Americans will be obese.” The Lancet suggests that the United States Government should somehow begin a top down approach to regulating and taxing unhealthy foods in order to reduce obesity, all while reducing the cost of healthy foods and making them more accessible.

The easiest scapegoat for obesity is convenience. One could easily blame fast food, which is usually hot, quick, cheap and convenient. In fact, fast food restaurants are so prominent in the United States that many families rely on them as a primary source for meals.

It is just as easy for one to walk into a grocery store and buy a loaf of white bread, some deli meats, a jar of mayonnaise, and some sugary drink mix and accomplish the same feat. But everyone has the choice not to buy what is known to be unhealthy, so what is the true source of the problem?

If the Government all of a sudden taxes everything that’s not healthy, won’t the corporations that mass produce these unhealthy foods, and the franchises that make a fortune off consumer “laziness” protest Washington and payoff the regulators to keep the system moving forward, towards this gloomy, obese future? Also, why would a Government that makes a fortune off its citizens being sick turn everything around 180 degrees and serve up healthy food at a bargain price?

The cure for obesity is education. In a country where whole grain foods are believed to help the body stay lean, high fructose corn syrup is marketed as harmless, and where aisles at the grocery stores contain massive amounts of processed foods and drinks with synthetic sweeteners, the United States is speeding towards disaster.

Basically, whole grains cause inflammation in the body and spike insulin production, which reeks havoc on hormone production. Insulin production is a vital process for storing nutrients and processing glucose in the blood, but the average body can’t manage these overloads that are consistently poured into it.

High fructose corn syrup, which is about to change its name in order to avoid its current stigma as being a leading cause of diabetes, causes significant weight gain in lab animals, and long-term consumption can lead to abnormal increases in body fat, which leads to heart disease.

Processed foods and many sugar substitutes are synthetic or partially synthetic, which means they do not come from nature, they are man made. Aspartame, Sucralose and Sorbitol have all but taken over when it comes to diet foods. Some scientists and nutritionists claim that because these taste sweet, they actually fool the body and brain into thinking the body is taking in sugar and the end result is that the body craves sugar even more, and so one’s appetite increases.

Grass roots grocery stores, like Trader Joes, have now become popular in major cities all over the country. Farmer’s markets are getting busier, and many schools are trying to adopt more nutritious lunch programs and filter out junk foods and snack machines from the choices students have on a daily basis.

The realistic solution to the obesity problem in the United States is a long term, slow grinding one, but it doesn’t appear that it will ever generate momentum from the top down, but rather from the bottom up. In a nation where national healthcare is simply a pipe dream, it’s highly unlikely that the government will change its capitalistic bombardment of convenient, fattening foods that feed the vicious, money making cycle.

As a rule of thumb, eat natural food that grows off of trees and out of the ground, and avoid food “products” that are boxed, bagged, canned or have a list of ingredients that takes longer to read than this article.

  1. I’ve seen anthropology videos from places with no modern conveniences, and people still come in the three basic, apple, pear, or banana shapes.

  2. The average American diet seems pretty outrageous to me, friends and family. There is a positively voracious need for refined carbohydrates, filled high fructose corn syrup. People are still consuming the fecal poison of e.coli Asapartme (Nutrasweet). These are imbedded unhealthy trends in American eating habits. I ahave a problem with anything that has been molecularly modified that has been placed in a microwave oven. Refuse to eat anything microwave, except for popcorn, and that has been phasing out. Convection ovens are the way to go.

There are a plethora of commercials for people to control their blood sugar with glucometers. Of course the medical industry knows the fallout of these eating patterns will result in a dramatic rise of Type 2 diabetes, just bombard the body with refined carbs, high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, thus the receptor sites for insulin, that may very well be produced, have burned out because they were place on a systems overload for years. This really annoys me because there is no reason for people to develop Type 2 diabetes at this crazy galloping rate.

All of this, combined with high triglycerides just keep that process rolling toward more and more of the same and MASSIVE weight gains. I just cannot believe the weight of some morbidly obese young and middle age people. Did they ever hear of the BMI and using that as a guide to where they should be. Don’t forget people being poisoned with fluoride and chlorine in water supplies. I find those to be the equivalent of arsenic and drink mostly Spring Water. GMO foods are a huge factor in making people think they are eating right, when in reality they are being robbed of essential nutrients in certain cases. GMO foods MUST be labeled for all consumers to be able to make a correct differentiation.

People cannot recognize the merits in just eating naturally. Yes I drink coffee in the morning and sometimes a tall one, and I may put in two packages of raw sugar. That is the most I would consider. Sprouted multigrain bread is great. Apples, organic, are excellent. Sit down and eat some grapefruit. I do eat meat, as in angus beef, chicken, turkey, fish, but I seek out the most healthy forms of them. Eggs are great and you can get organic eggs from so many providers.

When I go into a regular supermarket, just the mere sight of all of these refined products completely turns me off. The cookie aisle is just too much. The pastry section boggles me and I keep wondering who would eat it. (I like carrot cake, once in a while) The cereal shelves make me question about the sanity of parents who would feed their kids garbage. I like granola, and mixed fruits in it. Yogurt and kefir with plenty of probiotics are essential for a person to consume every day.

Birch sugar is fanatastic (xylitol) and is metabolized 20 times SLOWER than regular sugar.

People do not play sports or exercise on any regular basis. (This just boggles my mind) People also run to doctors, especially older folks, so frequently, it is out of control. I go to a pharmacy and see all these drugs, it stuns me. Seas of drugs as far as the eye can see. The pharmacies and big pharma are the real drug pushers.

The most I have to deal with is some allergy to ragweed, and take tumeric and maybe Zrytec (generic) if it really causes too much annoyance.

I think Americans need to take a good look at themselves at in a in a floor to ceiling mirror. Physical fitness is absolutely essential and so is sound nutrition. People should research some very advanced phytonutrients, ORAC values, and the power of antioxidants. I believe the body heals itself. The last time I went to my doctor and had a full physical (required for my profession), he asked me how I felt, the best answer I could give was normal. He did come in with a followup message and said, exercise even more. Well he was right, there was a period when I just wanted to take a slight break. So is life.

No I am not perfect. I have slipped into MickeyD’s on rare occasions but eat the healthiest thing they have to offer. I try to eat organic most of the time, however, when you go to a restaurant with your parents or girlfriend and certain things are too delicious to pass up, I will eat really tasty and hopefully healthy foods.

    • Sorry for a few typos I was laughing too much writing when he did his Al Gore imitation, the same thing happened yesterday when I was working with buds in ear listening to Alex while working. It is better than Comedy Central and such a complete skewering. I also researched the Delphi technique. I just get assertive and aggressive with people. Nice to others who are nice to me. Karma~~~~

  3. I see the next bubble about to burst!! time for another BAILOUT… a fat people bailout… or maybe let the MARKET fix it… this is gonna’ be a tricky one here…

  4. Current USDA dietary guidelines are based on the flawed notion that cholesterol and saturated fat are unhealthy. They are unrealistic, unworkable, unscientific and impractical; they have resulted in widespread nutrient deficiencies and contributed to a proliferation of obesity and degenerative disease, including problems with growth, behavior and learning in children. The US government is promoting a lowfat, plant-based diet that ignores the vital role animal protein and fats have played in human nutrition throughout the ages.

The pyramid with its strictures against fat consumption does not recognize variations in human metabolism. Recommendations for fat restriction are predicated on the assumption that fat causes weight gain and heart disease; several recent studies have shown that that restriction of natural fats actually leads to more obesity in both children and adults, while the refined carbohydrates, polyunsaturated and trans fats that frequently replace natural saturated fats contribute to weight gain and chronic disease. Restriction of animal fats in children leads increased markers for heart disease and to deficiencies of vitamins A, D and K2, needed for growth, strong bones, immunity, neurological function, and protection from tooth decay.

Look for the USDA Dietary Guidelines on westonaprice (dot) org for more on this.

  5. to burn gas you need oxygen. You eat fat and and don’t breath good air your body wants power, so you eat more food. Power comes from the super charger and burns fuel to the max. Just like a dirty air filter no power . People sit in chairs all day and breath bad air, is just as bad as the soda pop. The body can burn a whole cow up in a winter if your working a trap line, but sit in a hot room with poor air you well be as big as a cow. My point, it’s not what you eat it’s how you burn the fuel. Air + fuel= power it’s just to simple, how much fuel can you put in a park car. Some fuels burn better and leaves less build up in the tank [body].

  6. It’s all the dead grains, high fructose corn syrup, and salt they put in foods (not to mention an incredible array of preservative chemicals) that cause sugar to be stored as fat.

The FDA has been approving all that bad junk to drum up business for the AMA and BIG PHARMACEUTICALS!

Doctors are NOT trained to fix the problem but to MEDICATE and DRUG the problem.

America has to relearn what and how to eat!

  7. I really doubt that the U.S. is going to be around in the year 2030. What me worry?

    • I was thinkin the same thing. The damn World is feeding off of itself, and thats not taking into consideration any events (physics) that are beyond ‘our’ control.

    • There really isn’t anything to worry about; Nature is a delicately balanced, finely honed machine:

      1. Americans get fat, eclipsing the sun.
      2. With decreased sunlight, plants become less plentiful.
      3. Decreasing oxygen levels lead to mass animal die-off.
      3. Americans eat the remaining plants and animals, resulting mass human die-off.
      4. The sun shines once more, the plants and animals flourish, and the cycle repeats itself.

      How wonderous is nature!

      • Thats whats causing the earthquakes. Too much weight on one side of the planet.

  8. Tax the corporations that sell and profit from this JUNK FOOD!!

Not the weak people that eat it too much and get fat.

Their always blaming people for the corporation wrong doing, i’st total B.S.!!

    Just my opinion.

  9. Isn’t it normal to fatten up the cattle before the slaughter? Seems like everything is going to plan then!

  10. The problem is, that they have mis-diagnosed the cause of obesity. It is carbohydrates, particularly refined carbs, not fat and protein which cause weight gain. Yet the USDA’s food pyramid encourages carbohydrate consumption and warns against fat intake.

this logic ignores that calories, in the form of protein, are used for many bodily processes other than energy, and that excess protein is excreted in the form of urea. Excess carbs are stored as body fat. Similarly, saturated fat is a major component of most of the body’s organs. For example, cook marrowbone and you will discover that the marrow is almost entirely saturated fat. It is the same thing with the brain and many other organs and, saturated fat tends to concentrate around the organs, particularly the heart and kidneys, just go ask your local butcher for kidneys with the fat still attached and you will see what I mean. Saturated fat is also the the major component in the cell wall along with cholesterol. Therefore, not all calories of saturated fat are used for energy, and fatty acids in animal fats tend to stimulate metabolism. This forms a homeostatic system whereby the more saturated fats we consume, the more energy we burn, meaning that the consumption of saturated fats tends to normalise body mass.

In contrast, carbohydrates are only used for energy, in the form of glucose, and take many minerals and vitamins to be metabolized properly, many more than for protein and animal fats, which tends to be sluggish on metabolism, leading to slow burn and a tendancy to store energy from carbs in body fat. And of course you get the roller coaster insulin response if you have too many refined carbs.

This is why those on a low carb, high fat/protein diet tend to loose weight. It is why lots of saturated fat from coconut oil tends to cause weight loss, because fats stimulate metabolism whilst carbs tend to do the opposite. Of course, the body, with sufficient nutrients, can healthily consume a portion of its calories in carbs, but modern diets are high in refined carbs which lack the minerals and vitamins the body requires to metabolise them, which is why they are particularly sluggish on metabolism and tend to particularly cause weight gain.

This is why the calorie theory of weight gain misinterprets the laws of thermodynamics, namely ignoring that the body is a dynamic system that metabolises different calories in different ways.

So, government is wrong in saying that simple calorie restriction works, because, counter to intuition, one finds that obese individuals tend to have mineral and vitamin deficiencies, because a person must be well nourished in order that they burn off the food they consume, because metabolism requires nutrients. The solution therefore is a nutrient dense diet without refined carbohydrates and, with restricted access to carbs if weight loss is required. It is only possible to reduce carbs and maintain nutrient density if protein and fats are consumed in liberal quantities, otherwise you will see the typical yo-yo-ing between diet and uncontrolled indulgence, and between weight loss and wieght gain.

    • I agree generally with your nutritional breakdown–it is, after all, what happens — however I’ll parenthetically point out your misuse of the term “Thermodynamics”, amounting to technobabble.

Besides the purely metabolic/caloric explanation, there seems to be a correlation with people who eat poorly (packaged, poisioned, preserved foods) from a very young age. Something appears to have broken in their metabolism, causing the monstrous inflation Americans have become known for.

    • Pretty interesting post. If the government recommends it then I think caution should be observed and research should be done before following their advice. There’s already a massive amount of junk science being done, almost always funded by governmental organizations/agencies. And you can’t separate the politics from government money. If they’re shelling out the cash then that cash is going to support their ideology/policy. Simple translation = It’s probably bullshit.

The decline in health of human beings has drastically gone up since WWII. We’ve replaced good food with chemically addicting foods. And the cookie-cutter design of America has also played a large role in health, both mentally and physically. Europeans seem to do very well eating fatty foods (traditional products that have been around for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years. Made with natural ingredients of course). Italians and Spaniards have been eating cured pork products (they especially love the pork fat) for centuries without any adverse problems. They covet foods made with pride and skill that are seeped in tradition.

I’d eat a baguette any day of week over the chemical “Wonder Bread” that is pushed in America. I’d take Prosciutto over a hotdog or American “ham” also and I’d bet money that there isn’t anything unhealthy about eating it. The same thing is true of quality cheeses verses the American abomination called “processed cheese”. What in the hell is it, really? A steak (medium-rare so there are still some enzymes left alive) and a nice green salad with a little olive oil and red wine vinegar is vastly superior to some horrible burger meal you get at a fast food joint. Real fast food would be a rabbit or a deer, not some nasty, poisoned hamburger.

Moderation is key. Unfortunately Americans, all of us, have been raised by way of the television and commercialism. We’re sold “tasty treats” and “snacks” instead of real food. We’ve been destroyed through advertizing and bad habits. It’s a sin that we can’t even get a glass of clean water from our own homes. And now the NWO has targeted Europeans. Say goodbye to non-GMO vegetables and clean meats. They want the whole world to be like America. What a freaking nightmare!

      • Processed cheese is oil dyed yellow. Prolly some Xanthan gum in there, i dunno, Mmmm Xanthan gum

      • It really is a freakin nitemare for ones that truly give a darn. We have adapted our grocery routine to include 3 different general areas when we shop for food items.

We go to a nutritional strore. And even here of course ya gotta do your homework to try to see what companies are tryin to sell ya with their ‘oh so good sounding’ labels and with their ‘claims’ of that their products will do. Even the go-natural / go organic companies are very very good at deceptions and manipulations. Fruits vegies ( of all suppliers ) really need to be scrubbed and even then its not gonna remove everything probably. Plus some crap is inside the fruit vegetables.

You mentioned a bit on the European diet. We were commenting on this the other day here at home, and how Germans for example..eat alot of sausage-type meats..and the French eat alot of heavy creams / sauces. Maybe the red wine has something to do with it too. I dont believe these two regions have a high problem from these items do they? And Italians eat alot of meat, cheese pasta. I dont see them dropping over like flies. Its almost as if the body adapts eventually.

“processed cheese”. Ha..thats a good one.

  11. God, I wish I knew the answer to this!!! Ya know, A friend who is a nam refugee, told me that if you have FAT on you over there, you are viewed as a RICH man ( at least 25+ years ago).. we’ll see how this depression, that will be WORSE than the last one since VERY FEW people are self sufficient compared to back then…, will change the diet/obesity issue! I think it may EFFECT those 2030 predictions!

  12. This is why the argument that GMOs will allow the population to expand far greater than it otherwise would, were organic food the only option, is unconvincing. While GMOs, I guess, in principle, aren’t bad, they are a means to an end: profit and an unhealthy, slothful culture. If this assertion is incorrect, then why is it that Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and so on, are full of healthy food — with a few exceptions — (like actually useful vitamins and fluoride-free toothpaste as the main option in some cases) while supermarkets that sell GMOs are full of crap?

People need to understand that buying several apples or bananas is not only affordable but far healthier than going to a fast food place. The problem is that the free market has been undermined, and that they’ve been conditioned to subsist off of junk food. As food gets more expensive, the problem is going to only worsen, assuming fast food joints don’t raise their prices too high — but that’s what the MSG is for: to reward people for eating crap.

Thankfully, however, if you stop watching TV and begin educating yourself on the internet — the most egalitarian tool in my opinion — then that’ll help substantially.

  13. Oink !!!

  14. WOW. White Castle is going to get sued every day. I have a cure for fat people. Stop making fat peoples clothes. That should work.

    • The mysterious man complaining of small booths may have had a perfect build.

    • ……or else they could just diet on some of those earlier named “Broccoli Heads.”

  15. Observation tells me, along with duck duck grey duck. That america is 3/4 fat. Chemtrails in iowa today… 3rd time this week… WTF
