Court told Lundberg robbed a branch with help from inside

A former financial planner with Bank SA has been found guilty of stealing $120,000 in an armed robbery.

The Adelaide District Court heard Justin Robert Lundberg, 35, had just $7 in his bank account in the days leading up to the robbery in December 2009.

It was told he paid off a $41,000 debt within hours of the heist at the Bank SA branch at Mannum, east of Adelaide.

Another $20,000 was found in a wardrobe at Lundberg’s home unit.

Prosecutors said the robbery was an inside job, which had also involved the branch’s acting manager.

The court heard cable ties used during the robbery were found at the acting manager’s home and Lundberg sent text messages about the risk of DNA contamination of them.

Lundberg was found guilty by jury of one count of aggravated committing theft using force and one of false imprisonment.

He was taken into custody ahead of sentencing submissions next month.
