BECKY BARROW and INDERDEEP BAINS

Aug 12, 2011

Britain’s banking giants were slammed yesterday for refusing to help the innocent victims of the riots.

For many, the iconic image of the violence was the burning Carpetright building in Tottenham, North London, and the flats above the shop.

But it emerged yesterday that  residents whose homes were gutted in the blaze are still being forced to pay their mortgage.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, the housing association’s chief executive said he is ‘livid’ and ‘appalled by’ the banks’ behaviour.

Bill Payne, 56, said: ‘The country came to the assistance of the banks when the industry was collapsing. It does not leave a pleasant taste in the mouth that they won’t come to our help now.

‘I think their behaviour is hard-nosed, insensitive and immoral.’

  1. The banks do that all the time. Same thing happened to flood victims whose homes made uninhabitable (mold contamination) or washed away by flash floods. Also happened to those whose homes were damaged by refinery or chemical plant explosions. Even those home-owners whose property is being threatened with coastal erosion aren’t exempted.

  2. Gee, i’m curious WHY the government retards aren’t Immediately responsible Since it IS indeed, they, who ALLOWED the burning and looting….hmmmm….in THAT case, Common Sense Would Dictate that all fiduciary responsibilities go TO the irresponsible and negligent government UNTIL the homes and businesses of these folks are repaired OR they are compensated for, which, IF that were the due course of events, I just wonder how much burning, rioting and theiving would occur? Seems like pretty good incentive to pass the buck TO the gov!….Of course, IF it were parliment or any of the Elite f#cks homes, the JackBoots and Firemen would have been there in a minute, bashing heads and water cannoning the buildings!!!! Just sayin’

agree totally, govt allowed it, govt can pay for it.
the insurers would like that solution, the banks would get paid..

  3. Its not the banks responsibility to suck up the loss. The loss should be covered by their homeowners insurance. If the insurance will not cover it well I guess its time to contact an attorney. Often the crooks in the insurance companies will exclude certain events from your coverage such as flooding. Its possible that riots fall under these certain events. Insurance is a scam and always will be.

yes, the industry based on fear of “what if”, made mandatory, that wont pay out when.

but also consider the banks that sell homes for top dollar knowing full well that such-n-such company is planning to move overseas in 14 months because theyre handling the financial side of the area being abandoned.. which isnt made public until the last minute!
frauds like that happen lots and the people get “haha youre unemployed, homeless, your credit is trashed, and we made a bunch of money by placing a bet that YOU were going to fail exactly as we’d set you up to do that we’ll never tell you about, so enjoy!!

I’m not kidding about this stuff

  4. sure thing guys, just as soon as your insurance buddies take care of ME for this crap..
if they dont want to help we can always take lessons from the rioters and looters..
a good makeup job can probably screw your facial recognition software..
how convenient your home address is public information..
maybe you’ll get a learning experience too..

afterall, we were forced to carry insurance for the fear of “what if”, so now what?
not threatening anyone but if that train of thought makes you nervous,
gaaawleeegeee you might have a brain in that head!

  5. Isn’t it about time that we start hanging bankers from the gallows on live television?

  6. FK EM, DONT PAY IT, WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO, KICK YOU OUT ?

TELL THEM TOO BAD YOU LOOSE.

    AND WALK AWAY!
