Five people have been arrested and three charged after police found the body of a missing woman buried in her parent’s backyard on the outskirts of Sydney.

Police discovered the body of 33-year-old Colleen Deborah Ayers on the 10-hectare property at Lakesland, near Picton, yesterday afternoon.

The discovery was made after a tip-off resulting from the investigation of a chain of events that started when Ms Ayers’s parents came home from a holiday on May 25 to find their home burgled.

They called police when they realised firearms and jewellery had been stolen. At the same time, they reported their daughter, known in the Camden community as Debbie and the mother of a 16- and 18-year-old, was also missing.

But as Detective Inspector Russell Oxford said, “The tragedy is that they’ve come home and not realised their daughter has been buried in their backyard.”

He said neighbours had reported a break and enter at the property on May 9, and saw six people enter the property that night, but five leave the next day.

Police investigating the robbery arrested a 22-year-old woman on Thursday, who was later charged and refused bail.

Following the woman’s interview, police discovered the body, and then made four arrests: three men, aged 21, 32 and 38 and a 16-year-old girl.

The 32-year-old, Michael Duffy, was charged with murder and robbery offences. He appeared via videolink at Parramatta Bail Court today, where magistrate Robert Aboud refused him bail.

Scott Derbridge, 21, charged with aggravated break, enter and steal in company also appeared and was refused bail. Mr Derbridge’s pregnant sister sat in court sobbing alongside his brother and father.

Both will reappear at Campbelltown Local Court on July 23.

The 38-year-old man was released without charge.

Police will continue to question the girl.

My name is David Smith, and my reason for contacting you is that in relation to the Lakeslands Homicide case, there is alot that is not known!.Over the three days they spent together Ms Ayers and the 16 yr old girl had a physical altercation due to the fact that one of the men Micheal Duffy and Ms Ayers took a liking to each other, causing the 16 yr old to become enraged with jealously as Micheal Duffy and the 16 yr old were in a sexual relationship. The fact that concerns me most is that there was a sex film made involving the 16 yr old girl, Micheal Duffy, a 22 yr old women and Ms Ayers herself no disrespect to Ms Ayers or her family. As for the other two males, I am not too sure. On top of all this the 16 yr old girl is pregnant and a lot of the 16 yr olds family, sincerely believe that Micheal Duffy is the Father, including myself the 16 yr old girls Father!.I have tried to contact several agencies in regards to this, but no one has replied, any reply would be appreciated..Thank you….
