‘Foreign powers told to leave Iran alone’

The remarks came following an ABC report on April 28, 2012 about the deployment of US F-22 Raptor stealth fighters at Al Dafra Airbase in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“Transregional powers should leave Iran alone because they have seen the outcome of their meddlesome actions in the past,” Commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said on Sunday.

The Iranian commander added that the Islamic Republic has always managed to turn threats against the country into opportunities over the past 33 years.

“When the Israeli regime, which is not even the size of one of our provinces, sees it cannot harm the Islamic Republic, it resorts to making threats and these threats are worthless to us,” he said.

Esmaili said like any other aggressor throughout history the Zionist entity will be the one to taste defeat.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always been vigilant and only thinks about its own territorial integrity… it has never pursued adventurism,” the commander pointed out.

He highlighted Iran’s progress in building various advanced radars and said the Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base has designed and manufactured radars with capability to detect and identify aircraft with a very low radar cross section (RCS).

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

Iran has repeatedly assured other nations, especially regional neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
