Let me first say taht Chris Kyle appears to be a legitimate SEAL with two silver stars and five bronze stars (that’s what he states in his book). While he may be a SEAL, which is admirable, I was put off by his obvious attempt to “cash in” on being a SEAL. The book is poorly written, he contradicts himself and makes a few statements that stick in my craw. Number one, he belittles the Navy Special Boat units as being wannabee SEALs and unprofessional, while every other SEAL book I have read have praised them for saving their bacon on many occasions. He refers to every non-SEAL as “Navy pukes”, I’d like a crack at him myself. He name drops Marcus Lutrell several times with little explanation to the backstory as if they’re blood brothers because they’re both from Texas. Maybe they are good friends, but it comes across as a name dropper.
Finally, he calls himself the deadliest sniper, which is an absolute JOKE. Carlos Hatchcock was a sniper. Kyle, by his own admission, made most of his “kills” in the sub-400 yard range. My son, a Marine officer said, “that’s not a smiper, that’s just a marksman”. Yes, he “killed” alot of people because he was in a target-rich environment. Hathcock was off in the jungle, with just his spotter and little to no back-up in most cases and was a true “sniper”. This guy just happened to kill a lot of people. By the same standard, a bomber in WWII, either over Tokyo, Dresden, Hiroshima or Nagasaki could claim to be the “deadliest” US servicemeber in history.
He is obviously full of himself and his false patriotism and is now trying to cash in on doing what several thousand SEALs have done throughout history, without the fanfare and book writing (poorly at that).
Given all that, I think his Ventura story is nonsense. Who punches someone, knocks them down and runs away? I’ve had my share of fights in the service and witnessed many others and have yet to see that. He’s a shill for his book and his new “company” Craft International that he’s trying to get off the ground. A grandstanding blowhard, IMHO.
Does anyone care about this? This is just a distraction. Our country is being flushed down the tubes. Jesse Ventura has said he spends half of his life living in Mexico. Does he even care about the USA any more?
