BETHLEHEM, (PIC)– The leader in the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, Sheikh Hassan Mohamed Al-Wardian, 58, from the city of Bethlehem went on an open hunger strike protesting against his detention in PA jails.
Wardian’s family told PIC that the detainee, who suffers from hypertension and diabetes, decided to go on hunger strike after his preventive arrest on Wednesday, stressing his determination to continue the strike until his release.
The family added that Sheikh Wardian is suffering from difficult incarceration conditions, and held the PA president Mahmoud Abbas fully responsible for his life.
Wardian is an ex-prisoner, who spent ten years in Israeli occupation prisons, and he was abducted several times by the PA security services in Bethlehem.
Meanwhile, PA security services continued its arrest campaign against supporters and cadres of Hamas in the West Bank, arresting two of them in Nablus and Tulkarem.
The preventive security also continued detaining the teenager Musab al-Saadi from the city of Nablus, after his return from the Gaza Strip where he was on a visit to his brother who was released in Wafa-Ahrar deal and banished to the coastal enclave.
