I was not a hostage: siege girl

The daughter of the man arrested over yesterday’s Parramatta siege has given an exclusive interview to 7News, saying she was never a hostage.

Speaking exclusively with 7News’ Robert Ovadia the girl says she was asked to leave by her father but she chose to stay worried that her father could be hurt.

Describing the scene of the siege the girl says that she could hear the police forcing their way into the legal offices in Parramatta, “We could hear these walls ripping and then I was hearing like a chainsaw going through the wall and yeah, they cut it, the wall open, and they chucked in the gas.”

The girl told 7News she was overcome by fumes and admitted she was frightened, “Yes, I was very terrified, yep.”

After the police raid, the girl left the scene of the siege telling police not to hurt her father, “I said, ‘Don’t hurt my dad. That’s my dad.'”

The girl says she was not a hostage, “I wanted to stay. He told me that I could go but I really wanted to stay with dad.”

Yesterday police were involved in an 11-hour siege after a man allegedly entered a barrister’s chamber in Parramatta, asked to see an unknown person, and then claimed he had a bomb in his backpack.
