Iran disbands Jundullah-linked terror cell

The group, which infiltrated into Iran during the Nowruz holidays (March 20-April 1), “was totally dismantled and a number of its agents were killed,” said Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour in a Tuesday interview with IRNA.

“They planned to conduct terrorist operations in the central and border areas of the country; however, they were stymied following the efforts by the military and security forces,” he added.

The Iranian commander also pointed out that a large amount of explosives and equipment have been seized from the terrorist group, saying further details will be provided in future.

Jundallah has carried out numerous bombings, assassination attempts, and terrorist attacks in Iran.

The terrorist group’s leader Abdolmalek Rigi was arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in February 2010 and executed in June for 79 counts of crime, including manslaughter, armed robbery, bombing operations and armed attacks on Iranian police and civilians.

Rigi stated in his confessions that he had dealings with the US government and was promised unlimited fund and resources for “waging an insurgency” in Iran.
