Iran parliament focused on economy in one third of decisions, Speaker

Tehran, May 25, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said that the Iranian parliament in the past four years especially focused on economy by allocating almost one third of its decisions to economic issues.

Talking to reporters one day after the conclusion of the last session of the legislative body here on Wednesday, he said the parliament paid special attention to economic issues as the main topic of debates in the country.

He noted that the legislators focused on economic situation in the country in 30 percent of their ratifications.

Commenting on the most important achievements of the parliamentarian in the past four years, he referred to debates about the nuclear negotiations as well as the act on compensatory measures against seizure of Iran assets by the US as the most significant decisions adopted by the speaker.

The speaker also pointed to extensive efforts by the parliamentarians to expand dialogue and cooperation with their foreign counterparts as measures which also helped diplomatic endeavors.

He also said the most outstanding outcome of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) for the country was the improving conditions for entrepreneurs and investors.
