Iran-Russia flights to nearly double to 9 per week

New flights to be launched to Isfahan, Sochi and Mashhad.

The number of flights from Russia to Iran will be increased from five to nine per week, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on March 14 after holding talks with the co-chairman of the Russian-Iranian intergovernmental commission, Communications Minister Mahmud Vaezi.

The aviation authorities of the two countries agreed earlier to expand cooperation in civil aviation.

Novak said that the sale of Russian aircraft, vehicles and railcars to Iran was also discussed at the meeting.

“Today we discussed issues concerning supplies of Tu-204SM and Sukhoi SuperJet 100 airplanes, supplies of helicopters, GAZ and Sollers buses and automobiles, Kamaz automobiles, Uralvagonzavod (UVZD) railcars – about 12,000 railcars could be shipped to Iran by 2020,” the minister said.

The ministers also discussed “supplies of pipes for the oil industry, rolled metal products, pumps, compressors, power engineering equipment,” Novak added.
