“Iran supports stability, progress, and development in Iraq,” Salehi said in a meeting with Nawshirwan Mustafa, the leader of the reformist Iraqi Kurdish political party Movement for Change, in Tehran on Sunday.
Salehi further stressed the necessity for evermore solidarity and unity between various political groups in Iraq in line with the country’s national interests and benefits.
The Iranian minister expressed satisfaction with the level of ties between the Islamic Republic and the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, and underlined the need for the promotion of relations, especially in the infrastructural, economic, and trade sectors.
For his part, Mustafa hailed the Islamic Republic’s support for Iraq, especially regarding the expansion of interactions with the Kurdistan Region, and called for the enhancement of bilateral ties.
