Israeli occupation cuts Gaza electricity lines

Days of Palestine, Gaza Strip –Israeli occupation authorities cut on Sunday afternoon Gaza electricity lines to increase their plight amidst the coldest days of winter.

Electricity Distribution company said on Saturday that it reduced electricity supplies for the Gaza houses to 45 per cent a day after Israeli occupation authority cut the one of electricity lines in eastern Gaza city.

On Sunday afternoon, the company announced it had reduced electricity to only 35 per cent due to the Israeli cut of another electricity line supplying the eastern part of the Gaza Strip.

Since 2006, when the Israeli occupation imposed its illegal siege on Gaza, electricity is only eight hours on. Sometimes, it decreases to only six and four hours.

In winter, electricity is badly needed for warming up hospitals, homes and different biological facilities across the coastal enclave.

After the end of the 51-day Israeli offensive in 2014, about 300,000 Gazans were homeless. Less than half of them have been living in proper rented apartments or have rebuilt their houses.

Recent NGO statistic showed that at least 170,000 Gazans are living in tents of inappropriate houses.
