Palestinian medical sources said the tank shell targeted an area near the Karni crossing northeast of the occupied territory on Thursday.
Two of the injured people are in critical condition, the sources said.
Israeli military officials claimed they had not received reports related to the attack.
The latest Israeli attack on Gaza was carried out a few weeks after Israeli troops shot dead 20-year-old Mahmud Zakut in the city of Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip on March 30, a day when thousands of pro-Palestinians gathered in the occupied territory to mark the Palestinian Land Day.
In addition to attacks on the Gaza Strip, Israel denies about 1.7 million people in the besieged Palestinian territory their basic rights, including the freedom of movement and the right to decent living, work, health and education.
