Javelin thrower charged with drink-driving

Commonwealth Games javelin gold medallist and Olympic hopeful Jarrod Bannister is facing charges of driving while drunk and unlicensed in Brisbane.

The 27-year-old is charged with five offences including drink-driving, driving without a licence, and driving an unregistered and uninsured car.

The offences allegedly occurred on February 4 in the southeast Brisbane suburb of Morningside.

Bannister, who was born in Townsville but now lives in Carina, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court last week.

The matter will be mentioned again later this month.

Bannister won gold at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010.
