‘Leader’s fatwa, basis for interactions’

Now that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has issued such a fatwa, it is necessary that Western countries base their interactions with Iran upon it and refrain from leveling baseless accusations at Iran, Suleiman said on Monday.

The Lebanese president made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi.

On February 22, Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that the Iranian nation has never sought and will never seek nuclear weapons.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, slammed the abduction of a number of Lebanese pilgrims in Syria by Syrian armed groups.

The men were abducted in the Syrian city of Aleppo on May 22 when they were returning to Lebanon from a pilgrimage in Iran.

Roknabadi delivered Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s message to the Lebanese leader on the occasion of the twelfth anniversary of the liberation of a portion of Lebanese lands from Israeli occupation.
