ELECTION COVERAGE: Tony Abbott has joined hundreds of Queenslanders by backing Campbell Newman for Queensland’s top job at the LNP launch.
Campbell Newman Lays out the LNPs Key policies for the Queensland state election
Tony Abbott delivers a scathing attack on Anna Bligh and backs Campbell Newman as next Queensland Premiere
CAMPBELL Newman has insisted he’s the man to get Queensland back on track.
As 1000 party faithful gathered in Brisbane for the official campaign launch, the LNP leader yesterday focused just as much on his opponent’s record as he did his own plans for the future.
“They’ve forgotten about the future and they can only be counted on to act when there is a crisis,” Mr Newman said.
The audience was also addressed by the party’s federal leaders Tony Abbott and Warren Truss, who said Queensland needed a “new man”.

Under the slogan “It’s time for a change”, Mr Newman unveiled several key commitments, including $1 billion for the Bruce Highway and a new foster care inquiry.

“No matter how you look at it, no matter what they say, Labor’s best years are behind them,” Mr Newman said.
“That’s why it’s time for a change.”
But Premier Anna Bligh claimed Mr Newman wanted to take Queensland back decades to “when anything went for developers, when there was not the right restrictions on politicians and their financial arrangements”.
“He wants to take us back to the last century,” Ms Bligh said.
