Man critical after Sydney house blaze

A man is in a critical condition in hospital after being rescued from a suspicious house fire in Sydney’s southwest.

A back bedroom at a property in Matra Place, Raby, caught fire about 3.30am (AEDT) on Thursday.

Firefighters rescued the 62-year-old man from the bedroom and gave him first aid on the front lawn.

He was taken to Campbelltown Hospital in a critical condition.

His wife and daughter were in another section of the house and were awoken by fire alarms.

They were also taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

Authorities investigating the cause of the blaze say it is being treated as suspicious.
