A 20-year-old man has been found guilty over a double murder at Mount Isa in north-west Queensland.
The court was told Donald Tommy George broke into a house in August 2009 and attacked the elderly occupants.
Frederick Mabb, 82, died at the scene while his wife, Phillis Mabb, 71, was put in an induced coma and later died in hospital.
Justice David North said the murders were “shocking and brutal” and described the Mabbs as an “elderly, infirm and defenceless” couple.
George was sentenced to life in jail, with a mandatory non-parole period of 20 years.
