POLICE have launched a nationwide manhunt for a man believed to be responsible for a fatal shooting in Wanneroo last night.

A 21-year-old man was shot outside of his home in Lalina Way and later died at the Joondalup Health Campus.

Today, police revealed they were urgently seeking information on the whereabouts of Hayden Shane Joseph, 23, who is believed to be armed.

Detective Inspector David Bryson, from the Major Crime Squad, said police believed Mr Joseph was in company with another man at the house had fled in a green Ford Explorer, registration 1DSV117, after the shooting.

The abandoned Ford was later found burnt out near Great Eastern Hwy, Mundaring.

“We believe that Mr Joseph is in that car with that second person. We believe that he is still armed so what I would ask the public is not to approach him,” Det Insp Bryson said.

“But my main appeal is to Mr Joseph, please contact the police, get in touch with us. We are very keen to hear your side if the story.”

Mr Joseph has distinctive tattoos on his forearms. He is about 180cm tall and of medium build.

Neighbours went outside to investigate the loud noise when they heard a crackling sound at about 9.15pm. They heard a man shouting that his mate had been shot.

One of the residents who didn’t want to be named said he went outside to find a shirtless guy walking down the street and screaming that his mate is dead.

He said that Lalina Way had been a friendly quiet street. “There is always several people and cars coming and going from that house almost every day and night,” he said.
