A fire that caused about $1.5 million damage to a four-storey Melbourne townhouse appears suspicious, investigators say.
The property at Patterson Lakes, in Melbourne’s southeast, was well alight when five fire crews arrived about 1am (AEST) on Saturday. No one was home at the time.
About 20 firefighters spent about 40 minutes quelling the blaze, which fire authorities said was likely to have started in the garage.
Investigators will probe the scene on Saturday and are treating the fire as suspicious.
