Men armed with axe, rifle rob Sydney club

Thieves armed with an axe and a rifle have smashed their way through a club’s front door before robbing a club on Sydney’s lower north shore.

Three staff members locked themselves in a front room as the two hooded men broke down the door of the Hunters Hill Club about 9.30pm (AEST) on Thursday.

One of the thieves shoved a patron off a bar stool and jumped the bar, but ran out the back entry after he was unable to get into the locked room containing the employees.

The second man snatched handbags from the club tables.

No one was injured during the incident.

One of the men, described as 173cm tall with a medium build, was wearing tracksuit pants with white stripes down the legs, a hooded jacket covering his face, and sunglasses.

The other man was about 185cm tall with a thin build, wearing long pants, a hooded jacket covering his face, and sunglasses.
