Merkel snubs ‘impatient’ Cameron’s plan

Cameron had traveled to Germany in order to propose a plan for putting German money into a system of Eurobonds that would share the massive debts of Spain, Italy, and Greece across Europe, reported The Sun.

While Cameron said Britain “wants Europe to succeed”, he threatened Britain would veto support for a new European bank rescue deal saying he would put Britain’s interests first by spending no British money on propping up Greek and Spanish banks.

“It is human to think the euro crisis could be solved in one fell swoop – but I don’t think this would work”, Merkel told Cameron in an embarrassing public snub.

“The euro crisis developed over ten years and it is going to take several years before we can repair the system and make it viable again. With everybody getting so impatient around here, it is a good job that I am one of the people who is staying patient”, Merkel added.

Moreover, Merkel raised her eyebrows when Cameron expressed his opposition to a financial transactions tax. She also warned against the economic gloom ahead saying: “Britain faces one of the most challenging economic times of modern history”.
