Mexico urges diplomacy on Iran N-issue

In a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Mexico City Jalal Kalantari on Saturday, Bezaury said Iran’s nuclear energy dossier should be sent from the United Nations Security Council back to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“It is necessary for Iran’s nuclear energy issue to be resolved at the International Atomic Energy Agency,” she added.

She also expressed her country’s readiness to discuss ways to bolster cooperation with Iran.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, said the Islamic Republic will proceed with its “all-out and transparent” cooperation with the IAEA.

He voiced Tehran’s full readiness to continue talks with the P5+1 with the purpose of “achieving a comprehensive solution.”

“We hope that other sides will also show their firm determination to resolve some of their ambiguities in connection with Iran’s nuclear energy program,” Kalantari added.

In June, Iran and the P5+1 – Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany – agreed to hold expert-level talks after their negotiations in the Russian capital, Moscow.

The next round of the expert-level talks over Tehran’s nuclear energy program has been scheduled to be held in the Turkish city of Istanbul on July 24.

Iran and the P5+1 representatives held their last such meeting on July 3 in Istanbul.
