Militants blow up girls school in Pakistan

In a pre-dawn assault on Saturday, militants used explosive material to dynamite a government-run girls’ primary school building in Kandaro area of Saffi town in Momand tribal region.

The three-roomed school building was completely destroyed in the attack.

No causalities or injuries were reported as the school building was vacant at the time of the blast.

So far, no group or individual has claimed responsibility for the offensive. However, Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants are the main suspects in such incidents.

The TTP has banned female education in northwestern Pakistan in a move that has affected thousands of girls there and caused the number of enrolments to drop dramatically.

Militants have destroyed around 93 government schools, mostly girls’ schools in Mohmand Agency during the past three years.
