More Songs About Buses, Streetcars, Subways And People

When I posted and tweeted about The Shuffle Demons On The Wonders Of Public Transit, I asked “who writes songs about buses?” Andrew, AKA @wanderu replied that Canada’s great band The Guess Who did, with Bus Rider.

David, aka @heritagerambler suggested Stompin’ Tom Connors’ TTC Skidaddler, one of the worst songs I have ever heard, and given Stompin’ Tom’s ouvre, that is saying a lot.

I was beginning to think that this was perhaps a Canadian genre, but @helloKaitlin reminded me of the Kingston Trio’s MTA. I heard this as a child and thought that the M stood for Manhattan and never could figure out how Charlie got to Boston in the first place.

Then of course, there is always Judy Garland in Meet Me in St. Louis, going Clang, Clang, Clang.

Still, this list shows a distinctly Canadian bias. Any suggestions?
