Afghan officials said one had gone down in Nerkh district of Wardak, south west of the capital. The area is garrisoned by American troops.
Spokesmen for the Taliban movement frequently exaggerate or fabricate their involvement in helicopter crashes. The text message sent to reporters after the crashes said fighters had shot down both and killed a total of 36 “US infidels”.
