Our friends at Streetfilms partnered up with the Public Policy Institute at AARP to show how the city of Arlington in Virginia is using what they call “transit-oriented development” to make life easier for older people, allowing them more independence and, no doubt, a much better quality of life. It so happens that most of these things are also great for the environment, reducing people’s dependency on automobiles and creating more vibrant neighborhood where people can walk to the places they need to go to and in the process meet their neighbors.
