No, Mr. Krugman ... War is Not Good for the Economy eng krugman think B 715693g

As I have repeatedly documented, influential Americans are lobbying for war in order to save the American economy – what is often called “military Keynesianism”.

For the first couple of years that I wrote on this topic, commenters more or less said, “That’s crazy, no one is calling for war to stimulate the economy”.

When allegations surfaced that Rand Corporation was lobbying the Pentagon to start a war to save the economy, Washington Post hack David Broder started promoting war as an economic panacea, and former Goldman Sachs analyst Charles Nenner and economist Marc Faber started predicting a major war, people started paying more attention.

And well-known economist and writer Paul Krugman has argued for years that World War II is what got us out of the Great Depression.

For example, Krugman writes today in the New York Times:

World War II is the great natural experiment in the effects of large increases in government spending, and as such has always served as an important positive example for those of us who favor an activist approach to a depressed economy.

But Sunday, Krugman went over-the-top by more or less calling for a major war … and manufacturing a false justification for starting one, if need be:

If we discovered that space aliens were planning to attack and we needed a massive buildup to counter the space alien threat and really inflation and budget deficits took secondary place to that, this slump would be over in 18 months. And then if we discovered, oops, we made a mistake, there aren’t any aliens, we’d be better.

There was a Twilight Zone episode like this in which scientists fake an alien threat in order to achieve world peace. Well, this time…we need it in order to get some fiscal stimulus.

  • No, Mr. Krugman ... War is Not Good for the Economy

This statement is disturbing for two reasons.

First, many economists have demonstrated that – contrary to commonly-accepted myth – war is actually bad for the economy.

And the following statement by Mr. Krugman implies – whether intentional or not – the use of hanky panky to justify military spending:

And then if we discovered, oops, we made a mistake, there aren’t any aliens, we’d be better.

Doesn’t Mr. Krugman know that governments from around the world have admittedthat they carried out “false flag” attacks in order to justify their aims? See this andthis.

How can he be so irresponsible to publicly pine for all-out war based upon ginned-up reasons?

Postscript: There have been Internet rumors floating around for years that the government was planning to use a “faked alien invasion” to justify a power grab by the government. I have no idea whether or not that rumor has any truth, and it is irrelevant for the purposes of this post.

  3. Well, all the alien sighting crap was only to help sustain the military industrial complex with further collateral research and development programs. I also believe some of it was used for the nuclear testing program back then too. Traces of the mess came to light with the LSD experiments on soldiers, and of course the developers of the crap, along with the Secretary of Defense, James Forestall got thrown out of windows. I don’t believe any of it was for World Peace….that’s just smoke and mirrors.

Military Industrial Complexes do not want World Peace ! They want World War !

    It makes BIG MONEY !

James was pinned with MOH by LBJ before heading to Bethesda.

Allegedly he met with a sickly grey that telepathically showed him hundreds of different species coming to earth as they please.

That would give anyone a mental issue, but I do believe he was tossed thru window blinds like Frank LSD Olsen

  4. O good God Mr. Washington’s Blog. It is not a “rumour”. Project Blue Beam was partly declassified in 1994 which outlined a scenario where governments would use as fake alien invasion to as a pretext to create a global government. None other than President Ronald Reagan openly mused in September of 1987 at the United Nations how an alien threat from space could force national governments together. Do not be so naive Mr. Wahington’s Blog because your assertion that this “rumour is irrelevant” is flabbergasting when considering that this precise scenario has been toyed with by governments would be quite the thing that could “rescue” Obama’s flagging approval ratings be used to further the agenda of global centralization of power.

  5. There has already been enough fiscal stimulus in the US which has acheived nothing for the US exccept increase the debt as the cash was stolen and misappropriated because those that are runnung the system are criminals and its the same criminals that would benefit out of a large scale war*.

This guy is a total moron and until he gets it into his stupid liberal head that the scale of the debt is unrepayable and that criminals have deliberately sabotaged the financial system as part of a large scale plan then he should really just STFU.Krugman could of course write articles that are critical of the present criminality in the financial sector and the FEDRES and the fact that the manufacturing base has been deliberately moved out of the US to create the present situation but you wont hear anything about that from Krugman.Krugman also doesnt realise that war is a racket and that the manufacturing of arms and ordnance would be outsourced like it already is so the spending would not benefit the US.Also Krugman doesnt seem to realise that there is already an undeclared WW3 going on and all it is doing on the part of the US economy is further bankrupting it.

This moron doesnt understand that you cant get out of debt by increasing spending.

Bring back the manufacturing base and eradicate fraudulent debt that has been imposed on the US by the criminal financial sector Krugman you fucking worthless maggot as that is how the US will get out of its depression.Thats another way to get out of debt that doesnt involve death and destruction and the military industrial complex/bankers who benefit from war like Halliburton who dont even pay taxes in the US since they are based offshore but are taxpayer funded.Besides that todays situation is very very different to the US back in the 1940s so trying to fit the present situation in the US to that is very stupid.

I hate these maggotfilth like Krugman. Its obvious who Krugman is working for and that he is working against the interests of the US.There needs to be a purge of these kinds of maggots.

*There is already an undeclared WW3 going on right now which is a mutiple theatre of conflict and its not doing anything that will benefit the economy of the US and more of the same will only exasapate the problem but Krugman wants to cut unemployment by drafting Americans which effectively means killing them off.

  6. In the event that Krugman is another “poster child” in what it takes to win the NPP, then, the NPP group needs to disbanded.

Fools getting world wide recognition for incompetency is not useful to “We the People”. He is better suited for sticking his head back into the sand where it belongs, or, better yet, right up obamas ass.

    Bravo2……out

  7. Kick Grunman out before he has more dept imposed upon us all

  8. Bankruptcy is like death for a bank. War is justified here, to avoid the total collapse of ‘OUR’ system.., what’s a few billion proles more or less? They need jobs anyway the stupid cattle, we’ll just send em down the chute to recovery all the quicker. There’s a huge bill to square…
