NY man sentenced to more than 12 years in prison in airport drug case that involved TSA agent

BUFFALO, N.Y. – A New York man has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison for his part in a drug case that also sent an airport security screener to prison.

The U.S. Attorney‘s office in Buffalo says Derek Frank was sentenced Monday to 135 months following his earlier guilty plea to conspiracy and money laundering.

Prosecutors say the 31-year-old Buffalo man would fly to Arizona to buy marijuana and then ship it back home to sell. They say former Transportation Security Administration screener Minnetta Walker allowed him to get large amounts of cash through security. She’s serving a two-year sentence.

Authorities say Frank also had help from a former City of Buffalo employee and a former US Airways employee in flying under an assumed name.
