Oprah Winfrey’s cable channel “OWN” showcased a Chassidic Lubavitch wedding this week, as Michoel and Chava Shapiro tied the knot.
The program “Our America with Lisa Ling” filmed couples from different religions, all of whom chose “a traditional path to engagement and marriage,” according to the community website Collive.com.
“Chava and I believe that this is a great opportunity to represent the beauty of Yiddishkeit (Judaism) to the broader public,” Michoel Shapiro told COLlive about appearing in the film. “We consulted with well respected leaders in the Chabad community and everyone said the same thing: ‘Go for it!’”
