PJAK terrorists kill four IRGC officers

The fighting broke out outside the town of Paveh near the Iraqi border on Tuesday, a security official from Kermanshah, Shahriar Heydari, said Wednesday.

Four other IRGC officers were also wounded in the clashes, Mehr News Agency reported.

Members of the PJAK terrorist group — an offshoot of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) — regularly engage in armed clashes with Iranian security forces along the country’s western borders with the Iraqi semi-autonomous Kurdistan region.

PJAK launches its attacks from Iraq’s Qandil Mountains in the areas under the control of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Iranian security forces have been fighting PJAK members in the mountainous areas since last year.

The terrorist group, which is responsible for many deadly attacks against Iranians, has been branded as a terrorist organization by much of the international community.
