Police probe attempted abduction

Police are investigating a reported abduction attempt that occurred in Dandenong in Melbourne’s south east yesterday.

A 16-year-old girl was walking along Pickett Street at about 4.20pm when a man pulled his car over and offered her a lift. When the girl refused the man allegedly grabbed her arm and dragged her a short distance before she managed to break free.

The offender has been described as being of Indian appearance, aged in his late 20s, about 160 centimetres tall and clean shaven with short black hair. He was wearing a black jacket, black pants, white shirt and black shoes.
The car is believed to have been a faded-red, late 1980s model Toyota Corolla.
