Police seek witnesses to Sydney crash

Police are appealing for a witness to a crash that has left a girl fighting for her life in Sydney’s west.

Two 17-year-old girls were rear-seat passengers in a Nissan which left Merrylands Road, Greystanes and slammed into a power pole just after 1am (AEST) on Monday.

One of the girls suffered serious head injuries and is in a critical condition at Westmead Hospital.

The second teenager was seriously injured.

Two men in the car, aged 20 and 23, suffered minor injuries.

The crash brought down power lines and traffic was blocked in both directions, police said.

Police would like to speak to the driver of a late model (2010-11) white coloured Holden HSV GTS Commodore that was seen in the area shortly before the collision.

Investigators believe the Commodore may have been travelling on the Cumberland Highway, and then turned left into Merrylands Road.

Anyone with information about the collision, or the identity or current whereabouts of the Commodore driver, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
