Christina Gonzales, an “Occupy Wall Street” protester, told Democracy Now that she was arrested by the New York Police Department for filming the demonstration, which has now lasted 10 straight days.

The protesters have been camped out in New York’s old Liberty Plaza, one block from the Federal Reserve, since Saturday.

Gonzales was allegedly handcuffed and hauled off to a police van after she was ordered to stop filming and refused.

“We sat inside one of these police vans, 16 of us, for two-and-a-half hours with the doors closed,” she told a reporter from Democracy Now. “We couldn’t breath in there, and there was a man in there who needed medical attention. He had a big, huge laceration on his eyebrow.”

“There’s a lot of causes out here, but I think the main thing that we’re looking for is that we’re human beings, and human beings should come before money,” she added.
