For Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the U.S. is a “parasite” because its rising debt weighs on the global economy. For his government, the same debt is the safest possible investment.

Russia, the world’s largest energy producer, has boosted its holdings of U.S. debt by more than 1,600 percent since September 2006, according to U.S. Treasury Department data. Russia used surging commodity prices to build the world’s third- largest reserves pile, boosted in part by return on Treasuries.

Putin, 58, who oversaw the largest buildup of U.S. debt holdings in Russia’s history as president from 2000 to 2008, may return to the post after elections next year. The country is now one of the world’s 10 largest holders of the securities with $110 billion at the end of June, about 70 percent more than when Putin left the Kremlin.

“They are sending out a message” largely for domestic consumption, Edwin Gutierrez, who helps manage about $7 billion in emerging-market debt at Aberdeen Asset Management in London, said in a phone interview on Aug. 17. “It’s ironic that these voices of complaint come as they experience massive capital appreciation.”

How is infowars got the nerve to talk junk about Putin, when they’ve got an obviously pro-communist picture up saying Dissent is a Patriot’s Duty, and the guy is throwing up the clenched communist fist? Add to this the picture is copyrighted by SATANSGOALIE, and I think it’s rather clear to anyone paying attention what infowars is.

I wish Infowars would put a picture of Putin on the front page pretty much everyday like Drudge does. I especially liked the one with Putin and Medvedev fishing in matching outfits. Ahhhhh Putin, I just hang on his every word.

If someone with more credibility had made this remark I might consider it an actual insult, but coming from Putin, well pffffft, a parasite calling a parasite a parasite. I think we been through this before, it’s more Putin trying to set himself up as righteous and worldly. A real global leader in his own mind.

I don’t understand your rhetoric. How is it our fault that our gov’t puts us in so much debt and allows gas prices to $5/gal, against our wishes, which forces us, that do work, to work so we can pay for this welfare state created by the gov’t. Its set up so we don’t have the time to seek out and persue justice as we are too busy trying to pay off DEBT and survive! And then there is the welfare state where people aren’t inclined to “bite the hand that feeds them”. All this is manufactured. People are elected based on their word and when they LIE, how is that our fault as Americans? The responsibility rests squarely on the LIAR(S). However, the consequences of their lies rests directly on us as the very policies they enact have no effect on them. They live under completely different rules.

How is it our fault that when we elect a good president (JFK) and he attempts to do for the people he gets shot in the face with a high powered sniper rifle in broad daylight? How is it our fault that all these operations are carried out in complete secrecy and we get NO ANSWERS!? How is all this our fault? Most of the destructive legislation is passed in the dead of night behind closed doors. How is this our fault as Americans???!!! Perhaps the only way I can see is we as a society have not dealt well with morality and I guess that starts at home in the beginning of ones upbringing. don’t lie, cheat, steal, murder, etc. But this in now way has anything to do with watching our “leaders” or forgetting to watch them.
