Rudy Guiliani attacks Obama over Israel record

In a glowing endorsement of presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney in Florida, considered a “battleground state” for the upcoming US presidential elections, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani condemned US President Barack Obama being a false friend to Israel.

Mitt Romney was due to arrive in Israel Saturday for high-level meetings with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres, opposition leader Shaul Mofaz and Labor party head Shelly Yechimovich.

“Another thing about this president that has to change: This president is better to our enemies than he is to our friends,” he said. “Debbie Wasserman-Schultz said that ‘Barack Obama is a friend to Israel.’ I said ‘that’s a joke.’” Wasserman Schultz was the first Jewish woman from Florida elected to the House of Representatives and is an enthusiastic campaigner for the US president.

Guiliani attacked the idea that Israel should return to the pre-1967 borders, calling them “indefensible” and saying that Obama is putting “lives of Israelis at stake” by endorsing them. “Now, with Egypt under the control of the Muslim Brotherhood and Syria under the control of a maniac [President Bashar Assad] they’re even more indefensible [than they were in 1967.]“
