South Australian Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond has begun doing the rounds of local mines to raise her understanding of the state’s important mining sector.
Ms Redmond and her deputy Mitch Williams toured the Oz Minerals Prominent Hill mine, 650km northwest of Adelaide, on Thursday.
Prominent Hill produces gold and copper concentrate and employs about 1200 people at the open pit and underground development.
“Today’s visit is a great opportunity to see and experience first-hand the operations at the heart of the state’s key mining and resources industry,” Ms Redmond said in a statement.
