Samsung Galaxy S III expected for June launch

The buzz continues to build around the May 3 Samsung Unpacked event, taking place in London. After their Android app hinted at a Galaxy S III reveal, speculation on expected features adds to the hype. HTC is also preparing to reveal a new device, as details emerge around the Droid Incredible 4G LTE, while Asus props Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in its latest quad-core tablet.

Samsung Galaxy S III

The Samsung Unpacked event is still days away, but that hasn’t stopped anyone from speculating on the next Galaxy’s feature set. According to unnamed sources, Asia Today reports that the Samsung Galaxy SIII will come with the Cortex-A9 core and Exynos 4412, a quad-core processor that’s expected to sell well given growing consumer demand. The UK-based Carphone Warehouse was also caught promoting an upcoming device called the Samsung Galaxy S3, expected on all major networks in the UK. We anticipate a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus display and an overclocked 400MGz GPU, a possible preemptive strike against Apple’s iPhone 5, which could come later this year.

HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE

Verizon launched a teaser page this week flaunting the much-rumored HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. The 0.46-inch thick device will come with a 4-inch qHD LCD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory with a microSD slot for expansion, and Android 4.0 ICS with HTC Sense 4. There’s an 8-megapixel rear camera that shoots 1080p HD video, with a basic VGA front camera for video chat. Listed at $299 with a 2-year contract, the Droid Incredible is priced at the higher end of Android’s range of devices. The promotional page has since been removed, but The Verge managed to capture a few screenshots before Verizon took it down.

Asus Transformer Pad TF300

The latest tablet from Asus is the Transformer Pad TF300, a 10-inch slate priced between $379 and $399 for the 16GB and 32GB models. That makes it more affordable than the current Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Under the hood you’ll find the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, though it lacks the premium aluminum back and Super IPS+ display, opting for a standard IPS screen with 1280×800 pixel resolution. Complete with Android 4.0 ICS, the TF300 also comes with an optional keyboard dock. The rear-facing camera is 8-megapixels, though it’s missing an LED flash. The front camera is 1.2-megapixels, the same as in the Transformer Prime.
