A search is underway for a walker missing in remote southern Tasmania.
Relatives of the 50-year-old man alerted police when he failed to return to Cockle Creek as expected two days ago.
Search and rescue officers and SES volunteers are to be dropped by helicopter along the South Coast Track to maximise the search area, a Tasmania Police spokesman said.
Inspector Stuart Scott, of Hobart Marine and Rescue Services, is coordinating the search and hopes to cover the area between Bathurst Harbour and Cockle Creek.
Technicians are also placing radio relays in the area to enhance the radio coverage, and a police command bus has been set up at the ranger station at Recherche Bay.
Cockle Creek is the most southern place reached by road in Australia, about 150km from Hobart.
