Secret donors fund Jubilee Flotilla

The organizers of the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant had to approach non-British companies to pay for the costs as British businesses were unwilling to contribute to the event by raising necessary funds.

The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant involves a flotilla of 1,000 ships with more than 20,000 people on the boats and the Queen herself on the leading boat. The event also includes 7,000 stewards and festivities planned in Battersea Park as the flotilla is to travel from Battersea Bridge to Dispersal.

The British people are never to find out exactly who were the sponsors of the pageant as the Jubilee Foundation has only listed those sponsors who wished to be named. Among the listed donors are the American oil company Chevron and the Mayor of London.

A Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant spokesperson said there are “a considerable number of contributors who have made donations and do not wish to be named.”

Anti-monarchy protesters are to stage their “loud, bold, and provocative” demonstration near City Hall in what they describe as the “biggest republican protest in living memory.”
