An unconfirmed shark sighting forced authorities to close Mullaloo beach in Perth’s northern suburbs for a part of today.

A jet ski rider reported seeing a large shark 200 metres offshore this morning.

The Joondalup Shire Council says the beach was closed by a ranger who was patrolling the area.

A council spokesman says there is no sign of the shark and the beach has now been re-opened.

Meanwhile, Cottesloe Beach is open to the public again after a suspected fatal shark attack on Monday.

A search continues for 64 year-old Bryn Martin who disappeared on Monday morning.

A three day search has so far failed to find any trace of him,

However, a pair of black bathers belonging to Mr Martin has been found on the ocean floor and have damage consistent with a shark attack.
