If we’re going to conserve what clean drinking water we have left on the planet, as well as cash in on the set to explode smart water meter market, we’ll need plenty of good, consumer-pleasing options. This concept from designer Marc Schömann fits the bill: it measures water use and reports the information to your smartphone, tablet or computer.
The idea of combining water meters with phones and computers isn’t new, but it’s a good one: When the chore of manually checking how much water your household is using becomes something you can do from the couch in between football commercials, you’re much more likely to do it.
The more information you have, the more likely you are to make smart decisions about how best to curb your water use, and save some for the rest of us (and the planet).
