Many terrorists were also arrested in the military operation on Friday, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported, adding the terrorist-held buildings were destroyed during the clashes.
Torture chambers and field hospitals were discovered inside the buildings.
Syrian troops also clashed with armed groups in Bour Said neighborhood in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor and Joret al-Shayyah neighborhood in the western city of Homs, killing a number of terrorists.
Syrian soldiers also located and destroyed terrorist headquarters in al-Kassarah area in the city of Homs.
Several leaders of armed groups were also arrested and large amounts of weapons were confiscated after Syrian troops raided terrorists’ hideouts in Hama.
Syria has been experiencing a deadly unrest since mid-March 2011, the violence has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of security forces.
While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
