Teen dies after police pursuit

A YOUNG driver allegedly on the run from police has rolled his car near the Victorian border, killing one of his passengers.

The fatal crash is now under investigation by authorities in both NSW and Victoria since the police pursuit began in one state but ended in another.

Police say they spotted the car being driven erratically in Albury in southern NSW at 12.20 (AEDT) this morning.

They say the car was speeding at 180 kilometres an hour when it crossed the border and then rolled off the Murray Valley Highway at Bandiana a minute or so later.

A man in his early 20s, who police believe was the driver of the sedan, was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with life-threatening injuries.

One of his passengers, a women in her late teens, died at the scene while another teenage woman somehow survived the crash with only minor injuries.
