FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda This week brings us blockbuster movie games, some smaller scale indie titles, and even the continued revival of a very old blue hedgehog. Topping the list is Gameloft’s The Amazing Spider-Man, an action adventure title tied-in with the new movie. We’ve also got an interesting space combat game, a new side-scrolling RPG from Gamevil, another iOS port from Noodlecake Studios, and the latest episode from Sonic the Hedgehog 4. Time is a-wasting. Here are this week’s top Android games.
The Amazing Spider-Man ($6.99)
With the latest silver screen adventure of our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man just around the corner, it’s not surprising to see the usual movie tie-in games. This mobile version from Gameloft is pretty awesome overall. Unlike their previous Spider-Man action game on iOS, this one is closer to what you’d get with a console, allowing you to web sling freely throughout New York City, moving from mission to mission and beating the tar out of thugs and super-villains. The game is crashing badly on several devices, but as far as movie tie-ins go, this is solid. Now then… Are any other Spider-Fan’s also seeing the midnight show tonight? I know I am!
Sonic 4 Episode II ($6.99)
After a bit of a delay, all Android devices finally see the latest edition in Sonic the Hedgehog’s newest journey, which is decidedly retro. By combining old and new Sonic staples, from the spin-dash to the homing attack, all in a side-scrolling environment with creative level design, Sonic 4 is able to stand out as something pretty unique. On top of all that, they’ve brought back Miles “Tails” Prower as Sonics two-tailed sidekick, and even reintroduced Metal Sonic to the world. This is by far an improvement over Episode I, and while it’s not perfect, it’s great fun.
Strikefleet Omega (Free)
This is the latest title from Harebrained Schemes, who were also responsible for Crimson: Steam Pirates on iOS, the first game to ever be published by Bungie Aerospace. This game uses some similar mechanics to put you in some big space battles, though the controls are more Flight Control than Steambirds. You simply draw out patrol patterns from your starships, sending out smaller fighters to meet enemies in combat. As you progress and fight off your insectoid alien enemies, more ships and powers are added to the mix. Definitely check this one out.
Illusia 2 (Free)
Illusia, for those that don’t know, is pretty much a side-scrolling version of Zenonia, with similar combat and light platforming. Now that game gets a free sequel, and as far as I can tell, it’s mostly more of the same, for better or worse. For example, the same great pixel art style is back, as is to expected from a Gamevil game. This game also suffers from the excessive, mostly cliché and boring cut-scenes and story segments, which really turned me off from the last game too. It’s not a bad game, but it definitely has some flaws. People looking for a nice quasi-KRPG game should enjoy it fine.
Cardinal Quest ($2.99)
Now this is a rather interesting new title from Tametick. It’s a new game in a very old school genre that you rarely see anymore. Namely, it’s a Roguelike; a simple RPG with randomized dungeons and very permanent death. As you explore the darkened dungeons, you’ll uncover weapons, spells, items, and all sorts of enemies, from bandits to spiders to dragons. The modern touch controls work surprisingly well with this retro title, and the old school pixel art is fantastically done. This kind of game is most definitely not for everyone, requiring a lot of patience and caution, but nevertheless, I recommend people take a look.
Tiki Match (Free)
Here is the latest iOS game to be ported to Android via Noodlecake Studios and their “Game a Week Project.” Created by the same people who brought us Tiki Lavalanche, this game uses the same theme and style, except that it’s a basic match-three title instead of a creative physics puzzler. As a matter of fact, outside of the nice production values and a few interesting tidbits, this game may seem dull for many. But while I’d personally say it’s the weakest of all these Noodlecake ports, it’s still a well made game, and should satisfy that match-three itch of yours.
