Israeli soccer star Tomer Hemed stunned third-top A-League Adelaide by scoring a last-second penalty to secure a 2-1 victory for New Zealand Wellington Phoenix in Wollongong today.
200 fans travelled from Sydney to Wollongong’s where the Phoenix is currently based to cheer him on.
In a post-match interview, Tomer said: “It was important to run straight away to the Jewish community. I prayed this morning and I knew this is my day.”
