He said his client was “focused” on his own defence but added: “He’s
facing a second degree murder charge now and he’s frightened”.
Zimmerman did not enter a plea and is due to appear in court again on May 29.
Earlier, in the day Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, said the killing had
been “an accident”, saying: “I believe that it just got out
of control and [Zimmerman] couldn’t turn the clock back”.
She later clarified that she meant the encounter between her son and his
killer had been by chance but that she believed Zimmerman “stalked my
son and murdered him in cold blood”.
