A senior Islamist rebel in charge of controlling Tripoli since the fall of Muammar Gaddafi denied links to al Qaeda and said he had been tortured by U.S. intelligence officers in 2004, French daily Le Monde reported on Saturday.

Western officials have expressed concern that some part of the fighting groups that helped to overthrow Gaddafi were Islamist militants or affiliated to al Qaeda, and might seek to install hardline religious rule in his wake.

Abdel Hakim Belhadj, who helped lead an Islamist group that has fought in close cooperation with the main rebel National Transitional Council, said his group had no intention of seizing power and would let the Libyan people decide on a form of rule in the post-Gaddafi era.

  1. I am a disgrunteled Canadian and our “Bilderberg Boy”, Stevie Harper the Cons Government are just as corrupt as Barry Obama Soetoro Barack Hussein or George Bush ever was, as he subverted Parliament illegally, to enter Canadian Military Naval and Air Forces into the Libyan War.

I am looking for Canadians who frequent website, to join me in a protest of taxation to the Canadian Government!

Re: I want the Tax Dollars, I would pay as a Canadian citizen for Canadian Military Forces e.g. Air Force and Navy, Illegal Occupation and Hostile Illegal War Action performed on a Sovereign country, exempted and Pro- Rated out of and abdicated from my taxes!

This war was not legal , as it did not get the proper authorization of approval and legal definition of war authorized through “Canadian Parliament”!

The Canadian citizens were not given a referendum vote on whether to declare this war – nor was my MP, ever allowed to vote on an authorization for or against this illegal war action that has taken place, by Canadian Armed Forces – Air Force and Navy in the country of Libya!

I as a Canadian citizen – should have no obligation to have to pay taxes for the cost of an illegal war action by Canada!

What about the rest of you Canadian tax payers?
